Job Duties

1.       Design attractive menus
2.       Develop a relationship with regular customers
3.       Follow food and safety regulations
4.       Order food supplies for the kitchen
5.       Ensure that customers are satisfied with food and service
6.       Assist with marketing events
7.       Create restaurant policies
8.       Hire and train new restaurant staff
9.       Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers who process, package, test and grade food and beverage products
10.    Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments
11.    Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
12.    Requisition materials and supplies
13.    Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy
14.    Recommend personnel actions such as hirings and promotions
15.    Prepare production and other reports.

Education Requirement

1.      Completion of secondary school is usually required.
2.      Post-secondary education in microbiology or chemistry may be required for some positions in this group.
3.      Several years of experience in the food or beverage processing industry are required.
4.      Hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) co-ordinators require HACCP certification and several years of experience in quality assurance of food production.
