Job Duties
1. Maintain receipts, records, and withdrawals of the stockroom
2. Receive, unload, and shelve supplies
3. Perform other stock-related duties, including returning, packing, pricing, and labeling supplies
4. Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies; report those to accounting for reimbursements and record keeping
5. Rotate stock and coordinate the disposal of surpluses
6. Ensure adequate record keeping and manage all documentation to confirm proper stock levels and maintain inventory control
7. Coordinate the handling of freight, the movement of equipment, and necessary minor repairs
8. Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies
9. Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in a warehouse, tool room, supply room or other area
10. Process incoming requisitions and issue or distribute parts and supplies for internal usage
11. Maintain records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using manual or computerized inventory system
12. Prepare requisition orders to replenish parts and supplies
13. Sell spare and replacement parts for motor vehicles, machinery and equipment in a retail setting
14. Advise retail customers or internal users on appropriateness of parts, supplies or materials requested.
Education Requirement
1. Completion of secondary school is usually required.
2. Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program or completion of specialized training in high school and a one-year college program for partspersons may be required.
3.Trade certification for partspersons is available, but voluntary, in all provinces and territories.
4.Experience in a related clerical occupation, or as a warehouse worker, may be required for partspersons.
5.Red Seal endorsement is also available to qualified partspersons upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.
