Job Duties

1.       Analyze information stated on insurance applications
2.       Determine the risk involved in insuring a client
3.       Screen applicants on the basis of set criteria
4.       Evaluate recommendations from underwriting software
5.       Contact field representatives, medical personnel, and others to obtain further information
6.       Decide whether to offer insurance
7.       Determine appropriate premiums and amounts of coverage
8.       Review and update the rules that govern automation software
9.       Review insurance applications for compliance and adherence
10.    Assess clients’ background information and financial status
11.    Liaise with specialists to gather information and opinions
12.    Weight loss exposures and determine underwriting alternatives
13.    Draw up a quotes for competitive insurance premiums
14.    Negotiate and define the specific terms of insurance policies with brokers or policyholders
15.    Keep detailed records of policies underwritten and decisions made
16.    Balance between mass and homogeneity of risks to achieve predictability of future results
17.    Develop and maintain a profitable book of business for the insurer
18.    Follow applicable insurance laws

Education Requirement
