Job Duties

The duties of a finance manager include:

  1. Daily reporting.
  2. Analysing targets.
  3. Meeting with department heads.
  4. Managing and coordinating monthly reporting, budgeting and reforecast processes.
  5. Providing back office services such as accounts payable, collection and payroll.
  6. Monitoring cash flow.
  7. Liaising with accountant teams.

Finance manager responsibilities can also include:

  1. Providing insights on the financial health of the organisation.
  2. Ensuring the business meets all its statutory and compliance obligations, including statutory accounting and tax issues.
  3. Keeping track of market trends.
  4. Looking for cost-reduction opportunities.
  5. Developing relationships with external contacts such as auditors, solicitors and HM Revenue & Customs.
  6. Supervising staff.
  7. Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company (payroll, invoicing, and other transactions)
  8. Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting

Education Requirement

1.       A bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, commerce or a related field is required.
2.       A master's degree in business administration (concentration in finance), or another master's level management program may be required.
3.       Several years of experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial planning and analysis or other financial activities are required.
4.       Accounting and audit managers may require a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA).
