Job Duties
1. Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
2. Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
3. Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
4. Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
5. Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database
6. Provide assistance and support to company personnel
7. Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
8. Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
9. Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
10. Constantly update job knowledge
11. Performing basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
12. Maintaining a database, ensuring that records are complete and current.
13. Recording information, processing, and filing forms.
14. Preparing checks, deposits, budgets, and financial reports.
15. Updating ledgers, researching and resolving discrepancies.
16. Abiding by all company procedures and accounting principles.
17. Responding appropriately to vendor, client, and internal requests.
18. Ensuring Accounting Department runs smoothly and efficiently.
Education Requirement
1. Completion of secondary school is usually required.
2. Completion of college or other courses certified by the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada, Canadian Securities Institute or Canadian Bookkeepers Association may be required.
3. Some accounting clerks must be bondable.
