Job Duties

1. Patrols, inspects and reports on the condition of sheep.
2. Provides sheep with feed and water.
3. Assists with maintaining the health and welfare of livestock.
4. Musters and drives sheep to shearing sheds and between paddocks to ensure sufficient feed is available.
5. Herds sheep for shearing and keeps mobs separate during shearing.
6. Spreads fleeces on skirting tables for classing, pressing wool and branding bales.
7. directing and overseeing general farming activities such as maintaining pens, sheds and cages, fertilising, controlling pests and weeds, and growing fodder
8. maintaining fences, equipment and water supply systems
9. organising the sale, purchase and transportation of livestock and produce
10. maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity and planning production accordingly
11. managing business capital including budgeting, taxation, debt and loan management
12. may select, train and supervise staff and contractors
